The Long Island Sound Resilience Planning Support Program offers potential funding opportunities to New York and Connecticut communities to help identify and develop sustainability and resilience-focused projects.

This opportunity is open to municipalities, nonprofits and community organizations along the Long Island Sound region. Funding will be provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and administered through New York Sea Grant (NYSG) and Connecticut Sea Grant (CTSG). There is no match required.

The goal of this program is to help communities anticipate, absorb, accommodate, and recover from the effects of sea level rise, storms and other extreme events or human impacts.

In the first round of the Program, NYSG and CTSG awarded nearly $1.1 million to support projects in 15 coastal communities in the Long Island Sound region. The fifteen projects - five in CT and 10 in NY - include climate vulnerability assessments, resilience plans, watershed-based conservation plans, natural resource inventories, conceptual designs for flood mitigation opportunities and landscape design plans.

The deadline to apply is February 7, 2025. Up to $1 million will be available. More information is available at the Long Island Sound Study website
